SOCIAL ISSUES FACED BY DISABLED INDIVIDUALS IN SPORTS:

01) STIGMA AND STEREOTYPES

People assume that differently abled athletes are weak, incapable, or only doing sports for therapy, not competition.

02) LOW EXPECTATIOn

Coaches, teachers, and peers may expect less from differently abled athletes which prevents them from reaching their full potential.

03) BULLYING AND TEASING

Differently abled athletes face bullying and discrimination not only physically but also on social media which discourages them, as they are seen differently in competitive environments.

ABOUT THE PARALYMPICS

Pakistan has its own paralympic committee (National Paralympic Committee of Pakistan) and has participated in the Paralympic Games internationally.


The Paralympic are an international sporting event for athletes with disabilities, held every four years, just like the Olympics.

Paralympic sports include:wheelchair basketball,sitting volleyball, para-Swimming, para-atheltics and goalball.
